Neighborhood Watch |
The Neighborhood Watch Committee monitors the incidence of crime within the community and interacts with the local police department. Given a thankfully low rate of crime, the Committee does not patrol the community: most of the crimes involve auto tampering and vandalism that occur in the middle of the night.
Committee members may write articles for the Acorn advising residents on how to avoid crime and what to do if it does happen. Committee members may also attend police-sponsored seminars or arrange such seminars for the entire community. When particular problems with crime do arise, the Committee provides a useful forum for addressing them and can serve as the SHOA's contact for the police, the victims, and any other concerned parties.
